Charlotte was the first ever nomination the school has put forward for this award. We decided to nominate Charlotte following the success she had at the National Games for the Disabled at Stoke Mandeville in October. At the games Charlotte entered ten events, winning six Gold Medals and four Silver Medals.

On Thursday 20th January 2000, a reporter and a photographer from our local newspaper, The Evening Advertiser, visited school to put together an article on Charlotte.

(There was a link between Charlotte and the Advertiser as Charlotte had spent a week on Work Experience on the Features Desk at the Advertiser in November 1999!)

And then on Friday 21st January the Advertiser ran an article taking up most of the back page sports section - plus an article in their "Comments" section.

We just hope that this sets a positive example to all the pupils in our school plus anyone with a disability to "have a go - you never know what can be achieved!"
