In September 1999 we spent five days taking part in the National Games for the Disabled at Stoke Mandeville.

As part of the games you are able to practice in a wide range of activities, just for the fun of it - as well as the serious competition side of the games.

As you can see below, we ended up with over 20 medals, Gold, Silver and Bronze.

The best thing about the games is not only taking part in a range of activities the pupils can take part in - but also the social side of meeting other disabled young people who are on the same wave length as you.

From the carers point of view it is also a wonderful place to swop stories and ideas, as well as picking up hints on different types of resources and new ideas on managing the pupils.

This year, 1999, six pupils went to the games and won a total of 27 medals. We discovered how to play Table Cricket which the two Andrew's got a Gold and Silver in. Below are a couple of pictures of pupils in action.
